  Starting as a grade 6, server/bartender, I was quickly promoted to my role of a grade 5 senior server. My role entailed serving customers, handling cash, dispensing and serving drinks, making cocktails, hosting functions/parties, organising restaurant running’s, placing trade orders, responsible for training staff. With many years experience in the field of hospitality I have been able to grow and further this within Buzzworks, my skill for building customer relationships and communication is something I am very proud of, as well as the ability to enhance customer experience. Furthermore, advancement in this field has provided me with the confidence and skill to lead a team of staff, develop both myself and others around me, whilst controlling and supervising the restaurant and my general working environment. September 2017 saw a promotion for myself to a grade 4 team leader and a new member of the management team. This role challenged me and put me in charge of the waiting and bar staff, responsible for overseeing them, the kitchen and the restaurant by myself. Furthermore, my past responsibilities extended to being responsible for opening and closing the venue myself securely and to strict procedures, cashing up at the end of night, counting safe and tills. A strong, active role in staff training and management builds on my exposure, understanding and development of management skills and abilities.

  After completion of my internship with Henry Brown & Co, I was presented with a job opportunity for a full time role over 4 months of the summer. This was to focus upon the tax and VAT side of business, which set to further broaden my experience and knowledge of the accountancy and finance field. I was fully submerged in the role; calculating and producing tax computations and tax returns. Handling client information to achieve this, as well as extensive use of IRIS software to input and analyse information. The role entailed heavy use of Microsoft Excel which built upon my already substantial knowledge and use of the software. Dealing with clients, handling and organising company files, allowed me to utilise my organisation, customer relations and communication experience, meanwhile adapting and furthering it to my new role and business field. As a tax student, acting as an agent for clients, I was also required to be in contact with HMRC via telephone in order to discuss clients, request information etc. Training on the job provided the backbone of my gain in knowledge, however taking part in HMRC webinars provided yet another stream of knowledge, advice and learning. Continuous involvement in accountancy jobs and problems allowed me to maintain and grow my understanding and skill for such area.

  To put my university knowledge into practice, I sought out an internship for myself. In a SME I was involved in a range of aspects of accountancy and given many responsibilities and tasks. Tasks included handling and organising: invoices, bank statement, receipts, client information, business information etc. Analysis of information turned into production of ledgers, statements and full accounts. Utilising and gaining knowledge in Xero, IRIS and SAGE accounting software in order to do prepare and complete accounts.
