In addition to the work I undertook as Communications Assistant, in this role I:• Write proactive and reactive releases, articles and statements, liaising with journalists and helping to secure national, regional, and local media coverage • Attend and report on events including taking high quality photographs and distilling key messages• Create social media campaigns and running social media channels for the diocese on a day to day basis, responding to queries as necessary• Help to lead on the promotion of the work and events of the diocese, parishes, diocesan agencies and connected charities• Lead on the design of promotional materials• Edit and publish high-quality content on the diocesan website • Work to compile, edit and distribute weekly and monthly newsletters tailored to their appropriate audience using tools such as Mailchimp• Contribute to the development of new online resources and projects• Assist with the implementation of annual and monthly communications calendars, horizon scanning to maximise events to promote the work of the diocese• Assist with the development and implementation of specific communication action plans for major projects and events, always thinking cross-platform and developing integrated campaigns.

Over summer 2016 I was responsible for supporting the team and wave leaders in caring for a group of young people aged 15-17 in order to build a rewarding experience for them.• Working under pressure and in a close knit team to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for the young people in order to allow for their personal development.• A two week residential trip followed by a week of community project planning, helping to build the young people's life skills, experiences and aspirations through this. It was inspiring to watch as each young person grew in confidence and stepped out of their comfort zones.
