    • Lab work experience
      • Jul 2018 - Jul 2018

I was involved in the synthesis of Combretastatin A-4, which the laboratory is researching. Having the chance to experience organic synthesis prior to University was fantastic. I undertook this work experience with another student, under supervision of a lecturer at the University. I had the invaluable opportunity to access equipment that wasn't available in school prior to university labs, such as a rotary evaporator and NMR machines. I also had the chance to try new techniques such as column chromatography and IR Spectroscopy. This was invaluable for making me feel less anxious when I entered labs for the first time at University.

My role primarily included document-prep and data entry. This experience enabled me to develop my time and organisational management skills, as I had to work within deadlines, as well as understand the importance of client confidentiality and data governance.
