I spent 8 weeks at FTI Consulting as a strategic communications intern in the Life Sciences team. Alongside networking, I spent time doing research projects for clients, drafting articles, proofreading, communicating with journalists, and drafting award nominations. I was introduced to the world of both corporate and financial communications, and was given direct exposure to client meetings via phone calls and zoom. Orchestral Librarian

I worked as the Orchestral Librarian for the Durham University Palatinate Orchestra in my second year at Durham University. The role included working with conductors and other members of the executive team to discuss potential repertoire choices, researching, sourcing and managing music for a Chamber and Symphony orchestra, communicating with other orchestras and libraries in order to source the music, and working with the rest of the executive team to ensure that concerts and rehearsals ran smoothly. I worked consistently throughout the year to ensure that no music was lost, and to make sure that we had enough of the necessary parts at the correct time for all members of the orchestra. Show less

Over the summer of 2021, I worked as a member of the bar staff at the Stamford branch of JD Wetherspoon. I worked both on the bar and on the floor, serving customers in a mixture of table service and bar service, and gained experience in teamwork and money handling. Swimming Assistant

I worked as a swimming assistant to teachers working with small children at the Stamford Memorial Pool. Not only was I in the water helping and encouraging the children, but I also spent time doing administrative tasks such as taking the register and speaking to parents, and occasionally teaching when others were unable to do so. Reindeer Handler

Whilst in high school and sixth form, I spent my Christmases working as a Reindeer Handler for Real Reindeer Ltd. The role involved arriving early at the farm to help load the trucks with the necessary equipment, helping navigate to various different locations, setting up and down appropriate pens in a variety of locations and looking after the reindeer. I spent a lot of time speaking to the public, adults and children from all backgrounds, teaching them about the reindeer, and also looking to maintain the public's safety due to the close proximity of the reindeer to those visiting them. Work Experience

I spent a week doing work experience with the Welsh Government; I was their first work experience candidate, so a lot of the role was spent helping the team optimise the usefulness of my experience. I was given the opportunity to shadow various members of the civil service working at different levels, attend various meetings and to have a one-on-one chat with the Permanent Secretary at the time, Shan Morgan. I spent a week doing work experience with the Welsh Government; I was their first work experience candidate, so a lot of the role was spent helping the team optimise the usefulness of my experience.
