  Currently working for the Dorset HealthCare NHS Foundation Trust in Dorchester. I am an IT technician providing 1st level support over the phone for the West of Dorset. Talking to people at a level they are likely to understand and guiding them to overcome any issues is the main part of my job. As well as having appointments with users to teach them how to work equipment such as laptops, iPads, VPN tokens, phones etc. with systems we use within the trust. I spend a lot of my time guiding and giving users confidence to be able to use the technology and devices easily without getting frustrated. Due to confidentiality being a large part of the profession, encrypting laptops, mobiles are also a big part of the job. Also, being aware and able to use programs such as Adobe Reader/Shock Player, Java, Microsoft Office, Mcafee, Sophos, Junos Pulse is very useful to overcome issues with a users PC. Show less
