I had the pleasure of taking Steven Rosenberg’s Mediation Training Course when I first set out to become a mediator in 1999 and have since come to his course to assist in role-play exercises with his current classes. Steve shares the core of his extensive mediation practice experience with his students by breaking down the mediation process into the interplay of basic human dynamics. He then teaches through example, role-play and humorous interjections, the essential set of skills a mediator needs to be effective in guiding parties to a resolution. Close to twelve years later, I am still using the skills I mastered in Steve's class in my own successful mediation practice and highly recommend his courses to any one who is considering the transition from litigation to mediation.

In 2000, when I wanted to understand how to mediate better as an advocate, I took Steve Rosenberg’s Mediation Training Course. In 2010, when I wanted to refresh myself and begin to offer my services as a mediator, I went back to study mediation with Steve. Both times Steve presented mediation programs that were extremely well thought out with excellent materials and the manner in which Steve taught was at all times engaging. Steve’s programs exceeded all my objectives - in 2000 and 2010. Steve has been a mediator for over 20 years. He's very good at it. Anyone interested in mediation as a career will find Steve to be supportive and encouraging - and he also happens to be is a very decent, fun guy. I have recommended Steve to many lawyers. Take his class - or hire him - you'll benefit either way.

After having practiced as an attorney for many years, I realized that the justice system could not provide meaningful solutions for many of my clients. In order to better serve those clients, I pivoted my career to mediation. I now work with my clients, navigating disputes in real estate, probate, business, workplace, and divorce, helping individuals, businesses, families, couples, and neighbors come to equitable and reasonable resolutions and get on with their lives. I have mediated more than 2,000 such situations. As a Law Professor, I have taught negotiation and mediation and therefore bring an academic perspective as well as a practical point of view to resolving a wide variety of disputes. Mediation is a practical, relatively informal process that takes place outside of the legal arena; is private, confidential, and cooperative in nature; and empowers parties to retain control of decisions that have significant ramifications in their lives. The advantages of mediation are abundant and include reduced cost, increased efficiency, flexibility, and less mental anguish and most important, better outcomes. Knowing the tremendous benefits of mediation, I also provide training to others. I’ve mentored over 1,000 attorneys, judges, business professionals, HR specialists, and others who need to resolve conflict. I provide them the tools to understand the origins of conflict and how to navigate challenging situations. I lead these training sessions with candor, humor, and a straightforward, knowledgeable approach. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to share these skills with others so that mediation becomes the primary approach to problem solving. Show less
