Rose has been a guest speaker in a class I teach for the University of Utah's Honors College. I was impressed by her presentations for a number of reasons, but what stood out the most was that she asked each of the students to introduce themselves so she would know her audience. For my college students I think this was a shock, as they (too) often get talked at, without feeling invited to join the discourse in a meaningful fashion. The content she presented on Outdoor Recreation in Utah was valuable and, given her perspective in the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation, a specially informed one. Several of the students were motivated to learn more about how political structures can support outdoor recreation and it's contribution to the State's economy and citizen's well-being--and all of them loved the presentation.
