As a classroom assistant at Glenveagh School I worked as part of a team to provide education and care to children with severe learning disabilities and complex needs. I mainly worked with children aged 8-10, however previously was a substitute assistant and therefore worked all over the school with pupils up to the age of 19. My role requires me to be organised and efficient in order to ensure the children have the best opportunities available to them. The environment is fast paced and extremely busy and requires me to use my initiative and regularly risk assess situations in line with health and safety guidelines. It is important to remain professional in this role as well as maintaining a lighthearted, can do attitude to provide a happy environment where children can progress. I had regular contact with multidisciplinary teams and parents/carers and we put a lot of thought into learning for life and work meaning outings and visits applying experiential learning were essential.

As an employer of VMM Ltd, I was personal assistant to the chairman of Crystal Palace Football Club and his business partner. Both being high profile businessmen it was vital that I maintained a professional attitude at all times and kept up with the fast paced atmosphere of the central London based office. My duties were to assist the executive assistant with managing both diaries and booking meetings with clients as well as taking care of any catering or administration duties before, during and after these meetings. Further to this I was required to assist with any personal needs involving property issues or family affairs. I was also responsible for booking and organising transport and trips both personal and professional and was required to be available outside working hours in order to assist with any necessary arrangements or issues. It was also my duty to consistently keep on top of email correspondence as well as producing documentation for various company needs and occasionally assist in managing spreadsheets for the financial department.
