      - Advanced Placement Program. AP Spanish Language and Culture. 2018 was the first year we implemented AP Spanish Language and Culture. A demanding program for advanced students aimed at the university. With a program of studies detected in PBL through in-depth questions, students experienced critical thinking, writing and speaking in an oral defense. The result was the highest possible grade for each of the students. That is, 100% of the students achieved a grade of 5. - Accelerate 1 & Accelerate 2. Through the application of an integrated curriculum, the course is built as a holistic unit, emphasizing critical thinking and academic written composition. Students have the opportunity to improve their reading, writing, and oral skills through class discussions, a portfolio, and essays. This is supported by language instruction for academic purposes that focuses on grammatical form from a cognitive perspective, and a task-based, collaborative approach to the learning of language and culture as a whole. - Spanish as a New Language (Second Language).Spanish 2 By the end of this course, the students develop, through the lens of culture, an understanding of the grammar and syntax of the target language through an inquiry project. They are able to identify some universal aspects of culture and compare the products, practices, and perspectives of their culture to those of Hispanic cultures. This course highlights the three modes of communication: interpretive, presentational, and interpersonal. The main goals of this course are to understand frequently used sentences and common expressions in our daily life; communicate simple and routine tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on familiar matters; and describe in simple terms aspects of our background and personal history. - Homeroom teacher/ Advisor - Coordinator the Indigenous Day, the Spanish Heritage Month - Coordinator of the Spanish Club focused on the Cultural awareness Show less

"Use of illustrated books in Spanish teaching". Literature is one of the most widely used resources in the teaching of a foreign language. In children´s and young adult literature there is another resource that help us acquire a second language. Illustrations and the use of images in these books can evoke as much as, or even more, than words alone. How do we use them in the classroom? In this workshop we integrate literary illustrations within a Spanish class as a resource that facilitates the development of oral communication as well as the correct use of grammar for producing short texts.
