Cláudia Rodrigues

Rosa is the most helpful and attentive professional I know in tutorship. Despite her ongoing tasks and long hours of work, she never disregards her attention, time and dedication whether is a student, colleague or friend. A privilege to know someone so committed to life and knowledge. Cláudia Ridrigues

Teaching Biostatistics and Bioinformatics to sudents in Faculdade de Medicina do Porto. Probability theory, descriptive statistics, confidence intervals, hypothesis tests and use of SPSS for data analysis in the context of research projects. My goal, in every class I teach, is to make my students stop and think. I urge them to embrace critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication skills in addition to the problem-solving skills that will make them experts in a subject as well independent thought, a kind of intellectual responsibility. The first thing I always build up at the beginning of semester, between my students and myself, is communication. Theoretically, it is best to resolve students’ questions and confusions as soon as possible. Students are different and their ways of developing understanding too. I believe an instructor should always be ready to adjust her lectures due to the needs of her current students. Because student/mentor relationships are extremely important to student development, I try to create opportunities for students to participate in research. Show less

Teaching Biostatistics and Bioinformatics to students in Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde do Porto. In our time, email has become a major way of information exchange. I try my best to reply to students emails as soon as possible so that they know I am reachable outside classroom when they want to study statistics and encounter some difficulties. To make the email communications under control, I maintain, to my best, an informative website for my class. Show less
