• Designed and constructed an apparatus to capture tire footprint pressure maps utilizing a phenomenon known as the frustration of total internal reflection (FTIR is used to correlate brightness levels of an image to applied pressure)• Designed and developed an application (via MATLAB) to calibrate the FTIR pressure map apparatus, convert the images captured with the apparatus to pressure matrices, and export the resultant pressure maps • Developed a method for designing and 3D printing guide dies to guide the blade of tire shaving machines, eliminating human error in the process of creating artificially worn tires
