KC46 Rear Fairing, Value Stream Lead

- Lead production of KC46 Rear Fairing worth ~£3m.- Part of the team who successfully achieved the first Rear Fairings booked to stock as a finished Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) for the first time since production started.- Lead daily meetings of 15 people consisting of engineers, production supervisors and quality function. - Organising how best to proceed with any blockers – tracking individual’s actions and the project’s overall progress.- Build Plan creation and updating daily.- Reporting production updates to senior staff, notifying when build on stop and communicating how to resolve.- Capacity planning, attending high-level meetings to present team’s build data and to answer questions from leadership staff.- Working closely with Material Planners to ensure the product’s Line of Balance was in-line with production build plan and all required parts would be on-site on time.- Picking up daily blockers and resolving issues as fast as possible by working closely with Inspection, Suppliers, and Engineering to keep production progressing.- Improvements to production area to align with other builds on-site, measured through 5S and weekly audits of working area.- Focus on achieving a high First Pass Yield (FPY).- Gained logistical control skills and implemented robust mechanisms to ensure complete control of parts through material control on job cards processing.- Production staff management, closely working with fitters to identify any issues they may be experiencing, feeding that information back to the relevant departments and leading meetings to resolve problems in a prompt manner.- Opportunity to understand the KC46 Rear Fairing in great detail and influence decision making. The tool was used as a case study to show the capabilities of 3D printing and the advantages of rapid prototyping to the company.- Created CMS 3D Printer Guidelines for Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) of the in-house Fortus 380mc to guide designers how best to approach part, jig or fixture development to print on machine.Designed, developed and presented initial ideas of an In-Flight Operable Lock (IFOL) to upgrade the Air to Ground Missile Launcher (AGML) to a team of senior engineers to enhance product safety and redundancy system to an established CMS Product.- Understanding of product structure and how changes of parts can impact build against the As Designed Configuration List (ADCL) and what is delivered to customers.- Part of the Jaguar on Wing Launcher (JOWL) team and achieved Safety of Flight certification.- Systems engineering approach to AGML qualification, through creation of Verification Matrices the Launcher could achieve Critical Design Review (CDR) acceptance and Airworthiness Clearance.
