Rowen has been an active member of our Board of Directors for the Foundation of CVPH and is a pleasure to work with. She brings engaging dialogue to our board and committee meetings and helps make connections where ever she can. Rowena serves on our Planned Giving Committee and has helped to increase awareness of its importance through educational events and helping identify other ways to spread the word. She also joined our newly formed Major Gifts Committee and is finding ways to bring people into our work with thoughtfulness in how we do that. I love that she is not afraid to jump into something, learn about it and make it a better. She takes action and makes a difference.

Dr. Ortiz-Walters served as guest speaker for the Mentoring@Purdue program 6th Annual Invited Lecture Series. The purpose of the Invited Lecture Series is to highlight research initiatives and practices to enhance the mentoring culture among students and faculty on the campus of Purdue University and to provide graduate students with insight into practices that encourage persistence and success as they pursue STEM-related agricultural and life science degrees. A major reason why I came to choose Dr. Ortiz-Walters as our speaker is because of her and national & international reputation, steadfast commitment, professional accomplishments & research related to mentoring, gender, and diversity. Dr. Ortiz-Walters was extremely inspiring and it was clear that the Purdue University community benefited greatly from the perspectives she shared. Without question, Dr. Ortiz-Walters was the perfect choice for our event and I would welcome others to seek her out as their speaker, consultant, or collaborator. Levon T. Esters, Ph.D. Director, Mentoring@Purdue (M@P) program
