Mar 2016 - May 2019
Promoted a team of chemists as well as managed the day-to-day operation of the central chemistry laboratory responsible for corporate-wide failure analysis, supplier development and quality support per ISO 17025 IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems. • Responsible for coatings evaluation for automotive drivelines, such as corrosion resistance testing and analysis with pending PPAP approval • Research of oxidation rates and subsequent lifetimes of organic lubricants and polymeric formulations using high-pressure differential scanning calorimetry. This measurement technique determines the remaining oxidative life of these organic materials through monitoring of oxidation induction period measurements and application of these data to thermo-kinetic modeling software. • Presentations to cross-functional teams of scientists, engineers and BU Managers • Development of a novel lubricant receptacle for deposition onto critical driveline bearings Patent Disclosure Show less

Managed a multi-faceted career covering a wide spectrum of research efforts. Direct interfacial relationship with various Dow business leaders covering product development. Advanced corporate and business-sponsored projects lending to the understanding of various scientific challenges. • Six Sigma Green Belt certified: Successfully implemented cost saving measures to a 1 L batch slurry reactor system for in-situ nanotechnology research and development, heterogeneous metallocene and Zieglar-Natta catalyst supports (bench, pilot plant scale) Internal Publication • Successful in-house development of a reaction calorimeter system designed to track polymerization kinetics of polyurethane formulations for the optimization of a full-scale production facility in Dow Automotive operations. Patent Disclosure/Internal Publications • Li-Ion Battery Calorimeter: Research initiative required the need to quantify the heat evolution of Li-ion batteries at the moment of thermal failure during a low-rate temperature scan, and the instrument and software were successfully developed to handle the measurement. Patent Disclosure/Internal Publications • Microscope DSC: A glass-filled epoxide formulation was being evaluated and necessitated monitoring any morphological changes from a temperature-scanning thermogram response as well as optical microscopy. Successful development of a microscope differential scanning calorimeter and control software employing solid-state heating/cooling and a simple 400x webcam microscope. Patent Disclosure/Internal Publications • Pyrolysis Combustion Flow Calorimeter (PCFC): Successful correlation between microgram-scale fire testing to full scale 300-gram open flame fire tests leading to a tremendous increase in testing throughput and sample size reduction. In addition, these tools were implemented into a new fire testing laboratory in Dow Central Research and successfully integrated these prototype instruments into testing protocol Internal Publications Show less
