  I work on my thesis project as a part of the ambulatory patient monitoring project. I work with oxygen saturation measurement and I will optimize the accuracy and performance of SpO2 measurement at low power levels. The challenges in wireless patient monitoring come in forms of limited power source, active patient and varying ambient light.

  GE Healthcare designs, engineers and manufactures patient monitoring devices in Finland. I worked with product verification. This job included procedure writing, testing and data processing. I helped with creating the verification workflow and process tracking tools. The tasks included some coding as well as manual testing with SpO2 probes. Earlier I also did my university assignment for GE. The aim of the project was to find characterize changes in vital signs (heart rate, respiration rate and oxygen saturation) based on patient’s age and physical activity level. The results were used to make decisions on future of the ambulatory patient monitoring prototype development. In this small startup I got great opportunity to experience work tasks in different fields: I did mechanical prototype testing, wrote reports, dealt with regulatory papers and sketched some inspirational pictures.
