Monitoring several water quality parameters over entire water columns at different locations across Singapore’s port waters. These parameters include the water’s physical properties, suspended sediment concentration and particle size distribution. Using multi-beam system, water depth at interval grids of less than 0.5 m are measured in Singapore waters, delivering high-resolution geo-referenced depth data, while acoustic signals reflected from the seabed deliver side-scan back scatter data for seabed mapping and the inspection of underwater infrastructures, among other things. Statistical model: Developed a mass balance model to establish the impact of the different factors affecting the quality of water discharge in lagoon, and to predict water quality that would result from each course of action. The study mainly focused on the impact of rainfall, the stoppage of sludge inflow, and the removal and de-watering of sludge. The model suggested that sludge removal could significantly improve water quality. Analytical Model: Developed a 3D scour model to analyse the impact of scour around each of the jetty’s pile as well as to its overall structure.
