Of the 700 pupils at the school, most reported having attended the optional library time at least once. • Worked with a small group of pupils to improve their writing skills through reading fictional books and subsequently having the option to write their own summary of the book, generating more than 4,000 summaries total from the group of 20 students over the course of a year. • With a Ugandan co-teacher, led a group of pupils to assist them in preparing for the regional Enjuba Spelling Bee. Pupils won regional competition both years and continued on to the National Spelling Bee in Kampala. • Organized a Pen Pal Exchange between a mixed group of P4-P6 students at Kongunga Primary and a class of 4th grade students at an elementary school in Nebraska. • Co-facilitated, with other Peace Corps Volunteers and Ugandan counterparts, the teaching of the Grassroots Soccer Malaria program to 330 students aged P5-P7 at Kongunga Primary, and 100 pupils from P5 in Katine. • Supported the facilitation of a weeklong Start-Up Camp, designed to guide 24 young Ugandan entrepreneurs and increase their business skills, by leading sessions, creating physical materials, and developing engaging evening activities.
