Initially began employment as a press operator, which included, an element of quality control and health and safety training. Further to this I was advanced into assembly where pasting, spot welding and foaming would take place on Jaguar, Honda and Ford motor parts. Whilst working at Vickers I have also had the job of painting the building inside and out, and also the machinery and the floors to keep it well presented for visits. I had the job of maintenance (handy man). I also had the use of a company car to run errands for the company. I have always worked very long and unsociable hours including all bank holidays and public holidays. I was offered a position within the Bentley section of the factory, which included plasma cutting, setting parts to the correct tolerances, drilling and dressing the product and mainly building and mig welding Bentley sub frames, which is the main support for the car. I was responsible for training new operatives. The standard of quality control for Bentley product is very high. Show less
