As part of my Biochemistry Honors Research Thesis Project, I am conducting supervised research for the Anatomy and Cell Biology department of McGill Unviersity on the molecular mechanisms of mammalian bone development with specific focus on the extracellular protein fibronectin and its role in linking ossification and chondrogenesis. Role involves design, implementation and analysis of various wet lab experiments as well as eventual presentation and participation in lab discourse. Worked under a PhD supervisor as part of an undergraduate research course (Course code: BIOC 396) to explore the molecular pathway of myogenesis (muscle stem cell differentiation) in mouse models. Verified gene expression in wild type, phospho-mimic and phospho-inhibitory cell lines by western blot and qPCR of the protein Carm1 to better understand its role in differentiation and potential as a therapeutic target.
