Currently working on a large scale expansion of a student residential site for an Oxford College. This will be a highly sustainable development with all new build elements being built to Passivhaus standard, an existing Villa being retrofitted to EnerPhit standard and a strong emphasis being placed on innovative landscape and ecological design which promotes biodiversity on site and student well being. Recent work includes the £18 million HLF funded refurbishment and expansion of the Museum of the Home in East London. The project involved the exacting refurbishment of a Grade I listed almshouse and the construction of two new build garden pavilions, a new main entrance and corner cafe within a restored former pub building which expands the museum's presence into the public realm. Past project experience includes a new Library & Archive for Lambeth Palace, London and designs for a new Study Center at Nelahozeves Castle, Czech Republic. Wright and Wright Architects have a strong portfolio in higher education and cultural buildings - with particular, expertise in archives, libraries and galleries. The studio's design emphasis is on beautiful, well functioning, meaningful, durable and low energy solutions, using traditional materials in innovative ways, which will look good and work well in fifty or a hundred years’ time.
