Taking a sabbatical can be an interesting and educational experience. I took time off from the battle of project work while I trudged through the quagmire of the Philippine Bureau of Immigration to finalize my Permanent Residence in the Republic of the Philippines. Working on the farm with development projects was a fun, rewarding and sometimes demanding endeavor although the compensation was only in the satisfaction of a job well done. The projects completed will add value to the overall farm enterprise and shape the future of the farm, but a normal payday has its virtues also. Along with the farm development projects we completed several community service and community development projects. These included three scholarships and mentoring of these high school students in their assigned studies as well as computer training in our home. We completed remodeling and renovation projects at each of the local schools and the daycare center. The most appreciated community project was the installation of a spring water piping system which brought fresh water to eleven local houses which have never had running water.
