During my tenure at the City of Miami Gardens as Assistant Parks and Recreation Director, I had the honor to work with Mr. Ronald (Ron) McKenzie. As the CIO of the City of Miami Gardens Ron ensured the city’s cyber security, information technology, digital mainframe and computer inventory integrity. I recall a time, during the major undertaking of on-boarding the city’s new police facility, Ron coordinated resolutions to all my department’s IT issues in a professional and timely manner. Furthermore, when allocating funds to gain advancement of my department’s technology infrastructure, Ron provided invaluable guidance and was an essential resource. Ron served the city honorably over eight years, his professionalism and aptitude is truly irreplaceable to the City of Miami Gardens.

I initially worked with Ron when he was a consultant with Bearing Point. He led a team of professionals who assisted the Miami Gardens Police Department in standing up an entire IT infrastructure for a newly formed police department. As you can imagine, the project was huge and of critical importance to the success of our mission to create a police department, from scratch, in just under 2 years. The project was completed without any glitches and was a phenomenal success, contributing to the MGPD being one of the most technologically advanced police agencies in South Florida. Over the last 7 years, I worked closely with Ron, while he was the Chief Information Officer for the City of Miami Gardens. Our professional relationship was one of mutual respect and admiration, as he and his team directly assisted me with several complex technology projects that went off without a hitch. I am proud to say that up to this point, the Miami Gardens Police Department has enjoyed incredible success with its technology projects, at the same time we realized tremendous savings because of Ronald McKenzie’s leadership, skill, and professional knowledge. In closing, based upon Ronald McKenzie’s proven track record of professionalism, competency, and dependability, I would recommend him for any position of importance related to technology implementation, security, and management.
