As a full-time physical therapist assistant and program manager at Carolina Therapy Services, I provide physical therapy at various nursing home facilities and home health settings and treat geriatric-related neuromuscular and cognitive decline issues to include: strokes, Parkinson’s disease, closed-head injuries, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, chronic medication and substance abuse syndromes. I also treat and manage orthopedic-related muscular-skeleton etiologies such as: shoulder/hip/knee replacement, cervical and lumbar spinal surgeries, open reduction internal and external fixators, chronic osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and various soft tissue injuries for 10-14 patients daily. I supply quality care while savings costs and decide on the most cost-effective modality and/or intervention for each patient. I act as a liaison between the company and its contractors, provide seamless scheduling of physical, occupational and speech therapists, ensure proper staffing coverage between clinical sites and coordinate services to ensure proper patient care and support from all facility departments. Additionally, I provide individualized patient and family education on topics including environmental safety, carryover home exercises and caregiver intervention to improve patient’s quality of life and for providing strategies enhancing overall patient function and cognitive skills.
