Bio
Don Haringa
I have known Ron Hawkes for over 30 years. In the 80’s he and I worked together as ski instructors and supervisors for the Greek Peak Ski School. In the early 90’s I worked for Ron when he was the 1st Snowsports School Director at Whitetail Resort. We also came up through the PSIA Education Staff at the same time. After our years at Whitetail we continued to work together as Examiners for PSIA. In all the time I’ve known Ron he has been the consummate professional. He is an outstanding skier and instructor. As a manager, Ron is a pleasure to work for (and with). He is very guest focused. He is clear with his directives, willing to seek and respect opinions, and from those opinions and his own intuition and knowledge he is able to make wise decisions. He is a natural leader. Ron maintains a clear, level head, and is able to calmly lead through any crisis. A lifelong learner, Ron has a curious nature, and he seeks out and accepts new challenges without hesitation. This ongoing curiosity led to Ron expanding his knowledge of the snowsports industry well beyond the snowsports school. I have nothing but praise for Ron as a friend, a leader, a teacher, and a manager.

Ron is truly multifaceted. I first met him over thirty years ago as a fellow PSIA Examiner. Ron has the rare ability of combining and excelling in managing both operational and guest focused departments. I have always admired and respected him for his thoughtful and detailed insight. In addition to being a natural leader, he excels in discussing new and creative ideas and coming up with thoughtful solutions on how to apply those ideas and see them through to completion. I would not hesitate to recommend Ron for an operational or guest focused upper management position.
