Six-month internship : design of a floating platform in order to meet the technical constraints of floating wind power, and simulation of the whole system's behaviour {turbine + platform + moorings} for a set of design load cases (based on data from Groix island site, eastern Atlantic). - Definiton of the geometry and dimensions of a tower and semi-submersible platform (steel and concrete) in order to accommodate a 10MW turbine : hydrostatic, stability and structural criteria. Choice of adequate mooring lines based on extreme conditions on site (wind, waves and current). - Development of hydrodynamic modelling methodologies and tools. Use of potential flow theory programs (Diodore, Nemoh) in order to obtain first order wave loads, added mass and radiation damping matrices. Development of a calculation tool (Excel/VBA) to derive RAOs and mean drift forces from Nemoh outputs. - Overall simulations (FASTv8, Bladed) over a set of 156 load cases, using alternately Morison's formula and potential flow theory. Summary and analysis of the results in terms of extreme and fatigue loads, platform motions and turbine production. Show less

Six-month internship : project engineer in charge of prospecting the north-eastern part of France in search of favourable sites for setting up new wind farms. - Analysis of potentials and constraints (technical, urbanistic and environmental). - Prospection of five counties ("départements") using several geographic information systems, followed by on-site validation in order to identify the issues and specificities of the most promising sites. - Transmission of the results (after analysis and classification) to the project manager in charge of further developing the projects.
