The Solar Decathlon Europe is an international architecture competition. The goal is to design and build the most efficient net-positive energy house. 20 student teams fought against each other around 10 competitions, ranging from architecture to energy efficiency, engineering or communication around the project. Our team broke out of the single house paradigm to create a denser living space reducing urban spread and its environmental impact. We created the nanotowers, small 8 floors towers, with one apartment per floor, shops and offices at ground level and a common shared space at the top.The prototype built in Madrid was an extract of the last two levels, with one flat and the common space shown. Our project was awarded 4 intermediate prizes and the final victory.I was in charge of the fluidics systems. I've designed, integrated and built the innovative equipments and operated them during the competition to guarantee our energy performance.I was also part of the team that designed the global energetic concept of both the prototype and the urban project. We integrated very innovative concepts at the time, like heat recovery on grey waste water, shared energy production and heat waste reuse.
