Start-up online retailer specialised in providing food boxes to consumers containing ingredients in correct proportions to prepare and cook pre-selected recipes. During this role I gained diverse, hands-on experience in all aspects involved in the running of a business. I further enhanced my commercial experience through my responsibility for sourcing all product ingredients. This was done with the aim of achieving the lowest possible prices while still satisfying high customer standards for the product within strict time constraints. Show less

Equity / Alternatives Analyst

Internship I initially worked with the equities team conducting equity analysis in a support role. I produced qualitative reports on current holdings, comparing them to prospective companies and making recommendations and suggesting alternative stock picks. I learnt about the fundamental valuation of companies and expanded knowledge in the bottom up analysis of company accounts. I also spent a significant amount of time working with the alternatives desks. On the hedge fund side I attended fund presentations, wrote newsletters, compiled spreadsheets and did further modelling. However, the majority of my time was spent working on the private equity desk where I set up and attended a large amount of fund presentations from an LP perspective. I also did further DD on various funds. Additionally, I created client literature such as newsletters and a private equity roadmap, setting the aims for the next year in the private equity department. Show less

Business Development Manager- Middle East
-
Aug 2008 - Aug 2009
Placement working for Panaz Ltd in the Middle East based in Dubai working on the establishment of a permanent office. One year placement arranged independently of university with a globally recognised contract furnishing company working on establishing a permanent office in Dubai. Initially working independently, I built up a customer base and brand knowledge in the region. My role in business development necessitated a large amount of focus and determination, from researching clients and pitching to making sure products satisfied client needs and deadlines as well as publishing monthly performance reports. With increased trust in the operation from management I went from being the only permanent representative in the Middle East to establishing a joint venture with a local company, establishing a permanent office and managing an established team of sales staff by the end of the year. This industry experience in Dubai enabled me to thrive within and effectively manage a team. Additionally, the large array of international backgrounds and cultures of my peers showed me the importance of utilising my strong aptitude for communication with both team members and clients. My success in all these areas is proven through the results achieving a significant increase in turnover in the region. Show less
