Since a young age I have always had an interest with luxury fashion and have always had an understood just how meaningful and precious how each garment is. Working at flannels has allowed me to use my knowledge of luxury fashion, and even my knowledge of trends, to understand what customers may be interested in and why a particular garment may be sold more than others. However my knowledge also helps customers that may not be as interested in fashion as I can guide them to buy a suitable item that they will be satisfied with. Most of my knowledge stems from the Business and Trends research I have made, predicting upcoming trends. Show less

Working at H&M has let me enhance my excellent customer service skills not only by helping customers find the item that they need etc but also through language. Working in a diverse area in London it has allowed me to communicate to customers even though they were not able to speak English. For example a Ukrainian women asked for help and by speaking in Polish, although they are different languages we still managed to communicate and I helped her collect the items needed. At House of Fraser, I worked in the menswear section therefore I grasped an understating in what men tend to buy and wear- which I normally just had understanding of womenswear. Working at a department store also allowed me to not only work in fashion but also helped me understand that Accessories, Makeup and Games were also important for sales. As the demographic was different in Surrey than in London, it also helped me understand that different areas have different preferences and even sense in style. Show less

Before applying to retail jobs I wanted to volunteer out in a charity shop in order to gain some knowledge in organisational skills and customer service skills, which has massively helped me. In the shop the clothes I had to organise the clothes according to their colours and even had to style the window according to season to attract the people into the shop. I also had to work amongst all different types of customers. In the charity shop I also had to help homeless people by helping them use their vouchers and by guiding them to the church when they had problems with housing or other issues. Working there for a long time, I also helped new volunteers adjust to their jobs and helped them on the tills, helped them build up their confidence with communication and where the items belong on the shop floor.
