  I am the Central Valley Branch Director of Outreach Debate, an organization dedicated to expanding debate around the world. I founded a branch in an area where debate is much more sparse and grew the membership from 0 to over 50 new members in the span of a month. I also partnered with other local high schools I'm working with to coach, and created a middle school bridge program to push more high schoolers into debate and extemporaneous speaking. Under my leadership, the reach of debate in the region has grown exponentially, with the size of competition pools increasing by almost 150% of previous years and most local teams newly competing on the national circuit after receiving greater access to quality teaching and resources.   As a Co-Vice President of Debate and Limited Prep, during an overhaul of team structure and policies, I pioneered a new teaching strategy and debate curriculum, streamlining its introduction. Building upon the larger membership of past years, I created valuable partnerships with sponsors and non-profit organizations including Outreach Debate. I also sought out and secured the mentorship of event leading coaches to help grow membership and winning rates even prior to the start of the season, setting up the team for success. Show less

  I served as the Public Forum Debate Captain and leader for debaters on the team. Within my first three months as a leader, I grew the team membership by over 375% with new policies, and secured thousands of dollars in increased funding as a result. I spent hours of my own time arranging multiple weekly practices for skill building and team bonding. Through consistent meetings, my team and I worked towards establishing a system of learning management; through file and preparation sharing, and collaboration between over 50 debaters. We are actively competing at National Level Tournaments and earning accolades while ensuring that the process for the team is streamlined and the necessary paperwork and processes are taken care of. By the end of the season, Mountain House High School's PF program finaled the state qualifying tournament, and swept the national qualifying tournament. Show less

I am also actively assisting with the onboarding process of teaching of newer attorneys and witnesses by teaching skill centric knowledge including basic legal theory, courtroom procedures, and more.   While serving on the Mountain House Youth Action Committee Board, I work with fellow youth for the development of community programs that aid the growth and development of all children across the community. I try my best to be a role model in the community, dedicating over 200 hours to leading and fostering expansion within the group by organizing and planning a multitude of events including an annual youth summer camp with major success, holiday gathering, and year long tutoring program known as "YACademics". Under my oversight, organizational membership grew by over 500%, and the number of yearly events nearly doubled. In this process of attempting to better youth experience in the community, my collegues and I also shadow the Mountain House Board of Directors, absorbing valuable experience in fiscal responsibility, project management, leadership, and resource administration.   I attended the "Million Lives in the Law" Program at the School of the New York Times. I was one of the few individuals selected for a spot to participate in American law firsthand under esteemed instructors Professor Christine Scott-Hayward, and Dr. Leesa Fenderson. The course taught me a variety of topics including the functions of the American justice system, the intricacies of the criminal-legal system, the various careers in the law, law-based movements for social justice, and the role of every citizen under the law. I learned valuable working skills including the importance and methods to persuasion, analyzing social science and statistical data, and writing for the law with responses to court opinions and the composition of legal memos. I gained hands-on experience with visits to the US Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn, and major law firms such as Dorsey and Whitney LLP. I also heard from engaging and informative guest speakers including, Lisa DelAquilla, Gregory San Germano, Keri Blakinger, and Richard Silberberg about topics ranging from criminal justice and politics to corporate law. I significantly grew my knowledge about the law and gained indispensable experience on the technicalities of a career in law. Show less
