Undergraduate Researcher on project to develop an electric moped. As a student acting on this project, it gave me practical experience needed to increase professional skills as an aspiring engineer. In this project, we used a three-phase electrical motor with 2.96 hp and 220/380 V with shaft diameter 3/4'', key 3/16'', rotation of 1740 rpm (4 poles) and weight of 22 kg. The motor is supplied by 4 VRLA batteries with 12V each, the connection with the motor is given by 2 inverters.Key Responsibilities: • Liaising with my supervisor and mechanical technicians to determine the best mechanical parts of the vehicle.• Liaising with my supervisor and another electrical engineer student to determine the best way to implement the electrical motor.• Calculating torque using mechanical engineering concepts learned from the University.Key Highlights: ✔ Manufactured mechanical parts using machining and welding techniques.✔ Implemented the electric vehicle by adapting a bicycle.✔ Plotted the system's torque and power using computer programming.
