As a Student Helper in the Biofuel Lab I am working together with PhD fellows involved in the field of bio-oils from biomass sources. Mostly my job consists of preparing the oil feeds and samples for different analyses, as well as running analyses, such as: - water content determination through Karl-Fisher titration; - pH determination; - GC/MS; - FT-IR; - bomb calorimetry;Having this job gives me the opportunity to experience a slightly different field, than the ones we studied in class: conversion of woody biomass into biofuels. Furthmore, it boosts my self-esteem because I am proving to myself that I am able to organize my time, set priorities, meet deadlines, while working for both course and project work, as well as working in the Biofuel lab. Also, I got used to working alone in a laboratory and operating different equipments by myself.
