It only takes a moment of chatting with Rodger to realize that he is wicked smart, and has some talents that would benefit anyone he works with. I had the pleasure of managing Rodger at MXTreality for about 7 months while he was finishing his Masters. Rodger's ability to handle multiple projects and see the high level perspective meant he was my go-to for many areas of business, yet also the reason why I see big things in his future. He particularly excelled in the areas of User Experience Design, Storytelling and Digital Marketing, yet his talents are far reaching. Rodger earns my highest recommendation and I look forward to working with him again.

As the lead for TFT’s (Teamfight Tactics) past two sets (versions of our game), I’ve been responsible for all player-facing words that are not an actual part of the game’s interface. This means coordinating preview events for press and influencers, assisting devs in interviews (blogs, video essays, press), crafting player-facing messaging, launching information campaigns, and writing scripts for our video content. Of course, there’s also the work of a communications professional that never sees the light of day: internal communications, crisis management, and most importantly, providing a voice for our player community internally. In addition to my work with TFT, I’ve worked on communications for Riot Game’s global Pride campaigns for LGBTQIA+ folks both internally and externally. Show less

With the Consultancy, I worked with clients on digital content management, UX writing, and digital communication. I also run the Thoughtexchange, Q and A portions, of our Event Series tackling how COVID-19 has impacted communications. COVID-19 has changed the way we communicate, practically overnight. Every business and organization on the planet is suddenly facing challenges in reaching their clients and customers. As community builders and communication professionals with expertise in digital technology, members of the University of Washington’s Communication Leadership (CommLead) program are uniquely equipped for this moment — and we are ready to take action. CommLead has assembled our COVID-19 Task Force to help nonprofits, small businesses, and on-campus departments navigate the challenges of communicating in the face of this pandemic. • Communicating within your organization (internally) and with your audience (externally) from a distance • Pivoting communications strategies, messaging and business practices to continue in the face of COVID-19 • Creating videos and other multimedia assets while practicing social distancing • Hosting online events We’re offering pro-bono consulting in these areas and can connect organizations with professionals who can help carry out communication projects. After working event outreach and interaction with the Center for an Informed Public at the University of Washington, I have continued using these skills crafting opportunities for interaction with the UW Public Lecture Series. Every Thursday from May to the end of June we will be hosting episodes of "Coexisting with COVID-19" covering topics from finding toilet paper to navigating romantic relationships. Here I help bridge communications between panelists and participants using Thoughtexchange and craft various written elements. Show less

Here I coached three different Climbing Teams, two of which were adult teams while one was a competitive youth team. My responsibilities were hiring and managing coaches, scheduling and implementing instructions, and of course, making sure kids had a space to feel safe and have fun. At MXTreality, I wore many hats. From game narrative design that mirrors human-centered design research to content strategy and beyond, I operate within XR realms to create, amplify, and clarify stories. At All Minds Matter I was both an academic coach and a student advocate. This took the form of explaining the step by step process of a math problem or teaching valuable study skills customized for each students' needs. As a student advocate, I was responsible for assuring that teachers and students were communicating varying needs through IEPs and 504 plans. I have worked at All Minds Matter for four years and thoroughly enjoyed the work environment regardless of the chaos that ensued as a result of having over thirty students. All Mind Matter is currently a hybrid-schooling program that specializes in alternative education, combining homeschooling with public and private school environments. Show less
