Math, Physics, and Engineering Tutor
-
Sep 2015 - Jun 2019
Starting in the Fall quarter of 2015, I worked as a tutor in the Math Center at Whatcom Community College. Students from all walks of Pacific Northwest life and international students from all over the world came to us for help with their math, physics, chemistry, and engineering studies. We also got students of all ages. All people have ideas lurking inside them about what kind of person is likely to be good at math—ideas such as how old they might be, what their gender or nationality might be, etc. An important part of our job was to actively suppress those notions and simply focus on the individual to get them to the next level, whatever level that might be. As a freelance puzzle maker, I've created puzzles for the National Museum of Mathematics, The Unemployed Philosopher's Guild, NPR, Games Magazine, The New York Times, NPR's 'Ask Me Another, and Reader's Digest. I also have a book out called 'Path Puzzles'. Enigami Puzzles & Games is a creative outlet for the extra stuff rattling around in my head.
