I am able to call myself a "published author" because the one and only article I have submitted was bought and published, much to my surprise! I have attended a couple different writer's conferences and am working with an agent in Colorado to get my non-fiction book pitched and sold. I'm in the process of writing my manuscript and establishing a good, solid, social media platform. UPDATE 7/2016: My manuscript has been on hold (which was my decision) since mid 2013, after my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. I found that helping care for her was far more important than focusing on writing, so I am on hold. I don't regret this move at all, as I have learned we need to take the time we are given and spend it wisely. At that time, my time needed to be spent with my mom. I will proceed with the manuscript, or perhaps a different one, when I feel God is leading me back to it. For now, my family needs to come first. (I still look for opportunities to write when I can sneak them in!) Show less

    • Customer Service Representative
      • Aug 2019 - Present

I started working as a CSR in August 2019. I was hired on a part-time basis with the idea that I would fill in for another CSR if need be. I was hired to work three days per week, with a lot of flexibility. I enjoy the customers and the other employees I work with. This is my first "non-sub/on-call basis" job I've had since getting married. When our oldest went off to college and our youngest started seventh grade, I felt it was a good time to join the workforce on a more permanent basis. I started working as a CSR in August 2019. I worked for German, Neil and Hasbrouck, Ltd, as a substitute receptionist. While there, I worked on filing, transcribing, and various secretarial duties. The company has now changed to German Law Group, PC, and Mr. German is my lawyer for various needs. I worked for German, Neil and Hasbrouck, Ltd, as a substitute receptionist. • Medical Transcriptionist
      • 1998 - 1999

I worked at the Northwestern Mental Health Center for about one year. It was on an on-call basis, and it was a short-term job because we would move from Minnesota to Texas each winter for about four months for my husband's work. It was hard to maintain a full-time position when that was our life-style. However, the NWMC needed an extra transcriptionist at various times to help catch up on their work. I was able to choose my own hours and days, which saved my back quite a few times. I enjoyed the work and wish I could do it from home now. Of course, I stopped when we went to Texas that winter of 1999 (early 2000) and our first son was born later that year, which ended my time out in the workforce for many years. I'm thankful for the part-time, on-call, substitute jobs I was able to have with our life-style. Show less

I worked at Glenmore for a little over one year as a chemical dependency technician, which is basically a nursing assistant. I would assist the Registered Nurse with admits, tend to needs of the current patients, chart, and perform a wide range of duties. I never knew what the day would bring when I arrived for my shift. I loved working with the patients when they were in need and were experiencing a tough time in their lives. This is one of the jobs I have missed the most. I was employed as a nursing assistant at our local nursing home while in high school and my first year of college. I enjoyed working with the elderly and seeing them on my shifts. Even as a teenager, I felt a connection with them. I wished I could sit and visit with them for hours, but time wouldn't allow. Just knowing I was helping them get ready for their day or get ready for bed at night gave me joy. I grew attached to the residents, so as you can imagine when one would pass on, it was rough. I missed them then and I miss them now. Another one of my favorite jobs. One of those "jobs" that didn't always feel like a "job". These are the ones I wonder if I will go back to at some point in my life. Show less
