Social Sciences Instructor -- History, Geography, Government, Anthropology
-
Aug 2004 - Present
Currently a full-time instructor in the Social Sciences department, teaching Cultural Anthropology, Geography, Philosophy, Comparative Religions. As an adjunct instructor, I taught between 6 and 10 classes per semester, developing content to best enhance my courses and make them relevant (and fun) for my students. Taught Principles of Geography, World History I and II, US History I and II, Cultural Anthropology, and American National Government. I also taught a section of Creative Writing last fall, which was very fun! I would love to do that again.

Adjunct Instructor - History (and Young Adult Fiction)
-
Aug 2009 - Present
Currently, I teach 1 course (World History I and II) per semester. I was one of the first adjunct instructors to pilot online courses at Newman, and students are loving them. I also designed and built a new course, "What Are Your Students Reading? Young Adult Fiction" for Newman's pilot Continuing Education program this year. It was completely online, 2 credit hours, and focused on how to study young adult fiction, and how best to implement it into a middle school/high school curriculum, using Common Core Standards to do so. Hoping to teach it again next year!
