Within the engineering side of my role, I am responsible for recruitment of new engineers and helping to train them in tool design and manufacture. I am responsible for purchasing new equipment and implementing best practice on our shop floor so we make the best use of our facilities. On the commercial side, I am responsible for generating sales by visiting clients, representing Chasestead at exhibitions and conducting factory tours. I take care of some of our largest OEM accounts keeping abreast of their latest prototyping and sheet metal work needs, helping to ensure we deliver the very best value. In some cases I act as consultant to the designers with my chassis manufacturing knowledge before then quoting for the parts manufacture. Show less

I spent a year working at Ford on placement whilst studying for my engineering degree. The company was building a new factory and switching to lean manufacturing. I supported the Head Plant Engineer, helping him to get everything into the plant on time. My responsibilities included purchasing of large scale equipment such as a gantry crane, Co-ordinate measuring machine and fire alarm system plus project managing the power supply.
