      Our vision: for no-one in the UK to go hungry. Our mission: to get food banks what they need, when they need it - and make it easier for donors to give. Business purpose Prior to the Covid pandemic, the UK already had over 2,000+ known food banks. Due to national lockdowns and increased unemployment, food banks saw unprecedented demand when the virus hit the UK in March 2020. Hundreds of food banks and mutual aid groups have launched across the UK in response to the crisis and the numbers of these groups continues to grow. Food banks are now in the news almost weekly and Bankuet exists to serve and resource the efforts of these frontline organisations. Thanks to the efforts of Marcus Rashford the reality of food poverty has been brought to national attention. During lockdowns in the UK over 4 million people have gone hungry, including 2.3 million children. In the winter of 2020, the Trussell Trust forecast that 6 emergency food parcels would be given out every minute - one every ten seconds. The vast majority of food banks, both established and new, operate with little to no technology and use labour intensive methods to track and receive their donations. Bankuet offers a simple solution using familiar technology which delivers economies of scale and releases significant value for food banks and the supportive public. Social impact People walking into food banks are often there for complicated and complex reasons. Bankuet doesn't claim to be able to offer a solution to that. Our heart is to serve and support the incredible work that food banks do across the country as they help the most in need.
