Robin in his current role as a pipe fitter chargehand can be a challenging position but equally rewarding. Jacobs are currently running a rejuvenation project at Shell, Bacton. The skill range is extremely vast in the mechanical department which complements the work scope Jacobs have to achieve whilst at Bacton. Vendors and specialist contractors work on a sponsor basis, Robin will act as the performing authority for specialist work scopes, especially pressure testing activities, bolt torquing/tension and flange facing, as Robin has experience in all these activities. His duties allow him to be on the tools and resolve site queries, interact with the client and other contractors. A quick thinking individual with a vast problem solving accolade within the mechanical division and will contribute to any given situation. He undertakes breaking containment activities in accordance with Shells Flange Management on all hydrocarbon systems. All work completed in an accordance with Shell specification and industry standards. Robin also does tri-party line walks with Q&A and commissioning, identifying punch list activities and other general snagging. His experience of the Bacton site is a huge advantage whilst communicating with the client, contractors and vendors. Bacton uses the ISSOW permit to work system of which he is an acting performing authority and gas tester. The mechanical department has two permit writers, which along with his input makes sure Jacobs work within the parameters of the permit to work system and they are to the highest standard. Tool box talks are undertaken by Robin, engaging the workforce including vendors or the client to identify hazards and hold points. Show less
