Developed and taught 9th grade English & World History and 10th grade English & American History curriculums with a high focus on using primary and secondary sources, and increasing students’ ability communicate their learning through oral presentation and a variety of different writing formats. In addition, I taught two Humanities elective courses for 12th graders on Issues of Social Justice and Creative Nonfiction Writing. Both of these courses were geared toward college-level participation and written work, including research projects, teacher-led and student-led class discussions, and transitioning through the writing process from brainstorming to publishing. Worked collaboratively in a fast-paced team of skilled educators to develop course content, streamline grading practices, and deliver lessons. Taught remotely due to the covid-19 pandemic using the Canvas LMS, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom. In order to engage students in these new formats, I participated in extensive professional development and mentored other teachers in how to use ever-evolving technology to support their course goals. I utilized a variety of teaching tools and modalities to engage students during remote learning including synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid learning. Formally advised a group of students, including support in mental health, academic success, and conferences with their parents/caregivers. Show less
