Working closely with the Managing Director, I delivered a portfolio of business improvement projects that had been on Next’s wish list since the acquisition: • Production Efficiency: Increased production efficiency from 55% to 75%, as measured by the industry recognized GSD (General Sewing Data) Standard Minute Value method. • Virtual Manufacturing: Managed two business startups, based on a business model that gave Next a c.25% saving on the FOB price and generated a profit of $9M per year. • Group Wide Cost Reduction: $18M overheads reduction within 3 years. Achieved by transferring roles from Hong Kong to China. • Communications and Training: Developed a range of internal and external programmes. Invented ‘Nextopoly’, a training tool that gave Buyers a better understanding of the supply chain. • Overseas General Management Support: Managed the fit out of our office in Bangladesh. Managed our China Footwear office in the absence of a General Manager. • Corporate Risk & Responsibility: Raised standard of our overseas businesses to the same level as Next in the UK. I am an amateur developer in Microsoft Excel VBA, and in this role spent my free time creating many work related projects.
