Bob and I have worked closely together for the past six plus years regarding raw material quality and meeting customer requirements for stronger, safer and more corrosion resistant materials. When he joined the BOT-Navigation manufacturing facility, Bob set out to familiarize himself with the workflow of raw material from the receiving/inspection, through manufacturing, assembly and to shipping. During this investigation he discovered that materials were being scrapped unnecessarily and sought to understand why. He took ownership of the process to coordinate with Raw Material Vendors, reviewed past purchasing practices, quality procedures and manufacturing processes to implement changes to reduce manufacturing scrap rates. His extensive experience with material purchasing, material processing, raw material distribution and mill quality/acceptance criteria brought about immediate and documentable changes to Navigation resulting in immediate cost savings of over $500,000 in the first 6 months. Bob’s initiatives positively impacted meeting difficult customer requirements or increased manufacturing demands, the most notable being for BP-Raven (Tata H2S), Statoil (2507 Super Duplex), Hess (Super 13 Cr Testing) and Saudi Aramco (200 Valve Order). Bob took the initiative, working independently as needed, to resolve all raw material issues before they ever reached the manufacturing floor. Engineering and Metallurgy were consulted; vendor materials were pre-qualified or disqualified as needed; and new suppliers or mills sourced for satisfactory alternatives. A recent project for HESS comes to mind where the customer wanted NACE testing performed on every raw material work order, potentially resulting in almost $600,000 of additional 3rd Party testing and material charges. Bob worked with the raw material suppliers to consolidate the material sizes and specific heats to minimize the number of tests required. The resulting consolidation resulted in savings to the customer of over $565,000. Under his guidance and supervision, raw metal purchases flowed seamlessly through receiving, manufacturing and inspection resulting in on-time delivery to the customer. Bob is very responsive in meeting customer requirements and representing the core values of Baker Hughes. He is a team player who is focused on helping the company exceed its objectives. Bob is a highly competent individual who I’d recommend for any Supply Chain, Raw Material or Quality Management role. Diana Martinez-Project Quality Manager

I have worked with Robert on many different projects over the past six years. We have worked on several lead-time reduction Kaizan’s, worked together to reduce manufacturing scrap by over $500,000 and sourced exotic or difficult materials to meet customer requirements and manufacturing demands for BP, Statoil, Hess and Saudi Aramco. Robert took the initiative to resolve manufacturing issues where raw material were involved, coordinating with Engineering and Metallurgy, working independently with vendors, suppliers and mills to bring solutions and successful resolutions. One notable project he led was a cost cutting initiative to use 25cr super duplex material versus 718 Nickel to save $2M during the course of the project. He worked close with the vendor to identify a heat treat, which helped stabilize the material for improved manufacture ability. Under his guidance and supervision, raw metal purchases flowed seamlessly through receiving, manufacturing and inspection. Robert is very responsive to meeting customer requirements and represents the core values of Baker Hughes. He is a team player, focused on helping the company and exceeding objectives. I would highly recommend him for any Supply Chain or Raw Material Management role.
