During my previous employment as Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer and Researcher at the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) on The Torture Project (TTP), a project focused on the prevention of torture in the African context as well as the provision of psychological services to those affected by torture, I gained a vast amount of real world research and M&E exposure and skills as well as exposure to clinical supervision, therapy models as well as psychological… During my previous employment as Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer and Researcher at the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) on The Torture Project (TTP), a project focused on the prevention of torture in the African context as well as the provision of psychological services to those affected by torture, I gained a vast amount of real world research and M&E exposure and skills as well as exposure to clinical supervision, therapy models as well as psychological support methods and practice in the African context. My quantitative M&E and research responsibilities at CSVR included epidemiological database management, as well as the input and extraction of data from it, in addition to the generation of statistics and the application of those statistics in donor reports using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint as well as in internal impact assessment reports detailing clinical, as well as community, intervention data and staff performance. My qualitative M&E research responsibilities included analysis of clinical and community intervention process notes and documentation for the purpose of internal as well as external impact evaluation which was then compiled and presented by me to the organization and used to improve existing practices and develop new ones in the community and clinical contexts. I was also involved in quantitative and qualitative research conceptualization, planning and analysis for both the clinical and community teams which required me to work in a team with other researchers of varying backgrounds and professions as well as with non-research personnel from the clinical and community teams. In my time at CSVR I also had the opportunity to chair the African Monitoring and Evaluation Research conference hosted by CSVR exposing me to a vast array of different M&E as well as research methodologies, practices and challenges unique to the African context.
