As a Monitoring Systems Operator/Mechanic I operate and maintain a mobile lab known as a RTAP (Real Time Analytical Platform) that tests, analyze, and intrepid data that is attained by taking air samples of each Chemical Weapons storage structure and checking for the presence of a chemical vapor. I then create reports for historic archiving and give the go/no go if that structure is safe for initial entry and continue to monitor that structure while it’s open. As a monitor my duties include ensuring we provide a safe work environment free from the presence of any chemical weapons vapor, work with both State and Federal agencies during the demilitarization of chemical weapons as outlined in the Chemical Weapons Control Treaty, participate in various exercises involving the emergency operations of chemical agents, answer any and all questions as the onsite monitor that a Chemical Weapons Treaty Team or VIP may have. Additionally, I am responsible for the maintenance and up keep of all monitoring equipment and operating software.
