  With a rich history and heritage, Aberdeen Football Club has experienced the great triumphs and the tribulations that come to anyone involved in the beautiful game. Since 1903, they have been a force to be reckoned with both in Scottish and, in the 1980s, European football. During a decade under Sir Alex Ferguson, the club enjoyed a 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the 1983 European Cup Winners Cup Final, following which they defeated Hamburg to win the European Super Cup of 1983. Today the Club regularly qualifies for European Club competition and with the expected transformation of European Club Football to a greater competition, Aberdeen FC has the opportunity to be a key player in this new format, where television and media rights become a much more valuable revenue stream. The club is also proposing to make a significant £50million investment in a new community and sports campus, and new stadium. Aberdeen FC directly and indirectly supports close to 500 jobs and contributes more than £11m to the regional economy. The club also has a thriving youth academy focused on the development of elite youth players while AFC Community Trust, an award-winning standalone charity, has a positive impact on more than 100,000 participants a year from the age of 3 to 104.
