  I am acting head of the Division of Subtractive and Additive Manufacturing, and Professor in Materials Technology, at University West, with main focus on welding and additive manufacturing of Titanium Alloys, Ni-based super Alloys and Stainless Steels. Our materials science research is mainly related with manufacturing processes and materials development for high performing applications, such as parts and components for aero engines and space rocket engines, but also other high performing applications. Defects plays a crucial role for important mechanical properties, therefore understanding how and why defects form in different welds and during additive manufacturing, in order to be able to minimize and/or avoid them completely through process understanding and development, are some highly focused research areas. I have gained 20 years of experience with research in the Titanium Alloy field. At University West we work closely with industry with for example supervising master thesis projects, educating and supervising PhD students, and with planning strategy and executing long term research work on front line research challenges involving several different competences. Our strength lies in high competence in welding and additive manufacturing processes and related metallurgy for advanced metallic materials.
