Upon qualifying as an electrician, I took on the role of Electrical Engineer. I am solely responsible for proving electrical and mechanical specifications across the product range for all onsite engineers. I am responsible for guidance, advice, training and on site assistance for the whole of the Yorkshire and Humberside Engineer pool. It is imperative to each job that the specifications provided are right first time as any miscalculation could lead to safety issues and could be costly for the company. With larger teams to manage, communication and coordination is key. I keep in regular contact with my teams to ensure that quality and health and safety standards are maintained on each job. I liaise with customers with ongoing works on site to ensure that they are happy with standards and progress. I work in the office assisting quotation evaluation and high value quote authorisation, this usually involves me visiting the customer to discuss and provide the final quotation, giving the customer a recommendation for a tailored solution based upon my extensive knowledge of the product range and suppliers, industry regulations and standards.

    • Lead Industrial Door Engineer
      • 2008 - 2014

As Lead Engineer, it was my responsibility to lead a small team through Industrial door installation, repair and maintenance jobs. I was accountable for initial site visits and surveys, liaising with customers in regards to issues they were facing and talking through possible solutions for short and long-term fixes. It was then my responsibility to provide a written quotation whilst on site and if required carry out any works, co-coordinating my team to do so. Throughout this process, I would maintain clear paths of communication with the office to ensure that authorisation for the jobs were given and purchase orders were in place before commencement of works. I co-ordinated tool box talks and performed dynamic risk assessments before each job started to ensure that any health and safety concerns were addressed and if required mitigated pre works.

    • Lead Installation Engineer
      • 2001 - 2007

Working predominantly alone I was responsible for the installation of large-scale problematic domestic garage doors. With a company ethos to take on the most difficult installations I was required to think on my feet and problem solve in each job. During my time at PM Garage Doors, I worked alongside and learnt from experienced construction engineers broadening my knowledge of joinery, building and electrical skills.
