We did direct mailings, built physical and email mailing lists, web design, and social media management and general marketing consulting. Had to solve a very broad set of sales and marketing problems, as small businesses can’t hire multiple specialized companies to handle their overall marketing needs. It was satisfying work, and a good lesson early in my career for how to market myself and my skills. Devonia Antiques is a high-end boutique focusing on porcelain and crystal from 1850 - 1960s. They sell a very niche product to a diffuse and discerning clientele with a price tag to match. I managed the website, BigCommerce online storefront, and did direct sales and order fulfillment along with social media and email marketing. Social media was my original focus - but most small businessness don't need help posting online, they need help generating a reason to. I ended up doing general marketing services too varied to list entirely - mailing lists, social media (mostly Twitter and Facebook) online advertising, eCommerce photography, websites, blog posts, copywriting, sales training, merchandising and point of sale collateral, Every client has a unique problem, and small businesses need someone who can handle a large number of small but complex tasks.
