      My role as Head of Research has two primary strands:- To ensure that the organisation’s market intelligence needs are met in a rigorous and timely manner. This is achieved through the effective and efficient allocation of a c£600,000 budget and four Research Managers.- To further develop and implement the organisation’s Workforce Planning products and servicesHaving developed a Workforce Planning Model which has been instrumental in bringing about c£500million of workforce renewal funds in the gas and electricity distribution industries, I am now responsible for the continued development and implementation of a growth list of workforce planning services – including a training programme, employment projections and recruitment planning service as well as related consultancy work.I have supported a number of utility companies in the development of their workforce planning process including all gas and electricity distribution companies, Northern Ireland Water, Network Rail and a large proportion of water companies and their contractors.I lead on the development of bespoke research solutions to meet the specific intelligence needs of the organisation and of our Member companies and customers – the first step being to completely understand their aspirations and motivations.I have substantial experience of using both primary and secondary research techniques – face-to-face and telephone interviews, leading workshop discussions, data analysis (including SPSS), desk research – and in producing outputs for a variety of audiences (including employers and government departments/devolved administrations).I also have significant experience of project/ contract managing externally commissioned research and evaluation studies.
