My current role is responsible for the production team, who collectively deliver locally manufactured nutrients via fertiliser, sulphuric acid to industrial end users, and water treatment chemicals to local and international customers. The role reports to the Operations Manager.I am customer focused, ensuring my team strive towards producing high quality goods, validated by outstanding results achieved in external audits. Production planning inline with seasonal demand is key to this role, understanding key trends.A large part of my role has been focused on workforce planning, implementing a revised operator structure and succession planning for impending retirements.Key successes include improving plant throughout of the slowest product by 17% and developing an operator training package giving clear career development. • Operations Manager (Acting)
      • Feb 2017 - Mar 2019

As Operations Manager I had full responsibility for the Mount Maunganui site, including oversight of all functions from Raw Material intaking, manufacturing, quality assurance and finished goods dispatching. During this secondment I led the site management team, and helped coach them, with a number of these staff also in seconded roles. Significant growth was achieved by all, capped by some of these team members now having further progressed their careers in the roles they were in.There were a number of challenges in this role, significantly in the environmental space. I led the site through a major reduction in air emissions, giving a great outcome for ambient air quality in the local area.Major successes during this secondment included helping drive the sites safety record – achieving year on year reductions to best ever results, leading successful Collective Bargaining with a multiple Union agreement and delivery of a project to extend outage frequency in the Sulphuric Acid plant from annually to biennial. I was accountable for the asset management of the largest fertiliser manufacturing plant in New Zealand, including production equipment, bulk materials handling, a sulphuric acid plant and electrical generation from a 6MW steam turbine. I led the asset team which included Process Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Planning and R&M Maintenance. Key successes include delivery of major maintenance TurnArounds, development plus delivery of significant maintenance budgets, and increasing OEE of the plant to best recorded levels. Enablement of my staff through coaching and ongoing professional development ensured these achievements were recognised as a team deliverable. Show less
