Robert joined us to write the PL/SQL ETL of a large in-house Data Warehouse. He was quick to understand the complex design requirements and added considerable value to the product as it evolved. Robert is a very skilled Oracle developer with a keen eye for efficient design and performance. I would be very happy to work with him again in the future

Robert managed the entire Database environment for a complex implementation of a new system in Social care. I have not come across many people with such a range of technical skills, mixed with an excellent approach to and interaction with business customers. In all areas Rob provided an exemplary service to the programme and frequently went far beyond any reasonable expectations! He is a real pleasure to work with and was key member of the team. I cannot recommend Rob too highly, and, should the opportunity arise (which I hope it does), I would jump at the chance of having him on my project team.

Oracle Consultant with a wide ranging brief to improve the development, test and production databases. Projects completed include rationalising the ORACLE database storage, a sweep up of primary and foreign keys, an overhaul of ORACLE's internal auditing settings to provide useful operational information and the development of a lightweight continuous testing framework to detect database inconsistencies. Release procedure have also been improved, with database wide object version detection informing the release manager when releases have been missed and incorrect versions of database objects are in place.

    • Operational MIS Designer/Developer
      • Aug 2013 - Jul 2014

Operational MIS designer/developer on an international payment processing system, one of JP Morgan’s global ‘Crown Jewel’ applications. The primary goal of this assignment has been to work with system DBA’s to formalise a wide range of operational MIS scripts and procedures in order to present results in a consistent manner using Apex. Many KPI’s have been added during the development, as well as facilities to analyse configuration inconsistencies, Goldengate status, ASM ‘orphans’ and current/historical system data. The system has been designed to be used on any of JPMC’s database systems allowing quick diagnosis of database problems. A secondary series of projects involved the creation of two datawarehouse schemas and data generation code. Analysis of system logs provided data to predict TPS (transactions per second) and the impact of larger data volumes created by new customers. A second project generated complex CRM data for use by account managers and analysts.

Database designer and lead Oracle developer on the Trade Utilities MIS system (TUMIS), written in an Agile development environment to collate information from two of JPMC's merchant banking systems. The volumes of data and the near real time nature of the specification meant that performance was a particular challenge. Environment Manager/DBA/Developer for an implementation of Northgate's ACMS/AIS system, which consists of a OAS forms finance package, a JBoss/Ebase social care administration package and a specialised Oracle Application Express administration module. All 3 systems are attached to a single Oracle 10g database on Solaris 10. The system is used by 1200 users in DCC offices and county hospitals across a wide area network. In addition to the basic implementation, the manual data migration process was automated, and the Ebase code modified to allow integration with DCC's document management system.Earlier production DBA work consisted of preparing and upgrading the core DCC Oracle/Solaris databases from 9.2 to 10.2. These covered all aspects of DCC's core functions such as payroll, social care and finance and have a user base of several thousand.
